SMS is a Crew feature

The Messages area is owner-only. Sending and receiving SMS requires Crew or Crew+, an active paid subscription state, a customer phone number, and available SMS sender configuration.

Free and Solo accounts can see that SMS is a Crew feature but cannot send SMS messages.

Conversation list

Messages shows customer conversations that already have SMS activity. Each conversation shows the customer, latest message snippet, message count, time, and opt-out status when applicable.

Send a text

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Choose the customer conversation.
  3. Type a message up to the implemented message length limit.
  4. Send only operational service communication, not marketing campaigns.
  5. Review provider status on outbound bubbles after sending.

Automatic SMS contexts

MowNext has implemented SMS templates for on-the-way notices, job complete with pay link, reminders, overdue invoices, and generic chat. Rendered messages include the operator brand and opt-out language.

Opt-out and opt-in

  • Customers can reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to opt out.
  • Customers can reply START or UNSTOP to opt back in.
  • When a customer is opted out, outbound sending is blocked and replies are received-only until they opt back in.
  • Opt-out status is shown in the conversation and on relevant customer context.

Segments and billing

SMS usage is counted in message segments. Crew includes 500 segments per billing period. Crew+ includes 2000 segments per billing period. The billing page shows current SMS usage.

Long messages or special characters can use more than one segment.
